When you order toshikoshi soba (New Year’s Eve soba) online, it is easier to decide by four points: the noodle type (fresh soba, dried noodles, semi-fresh udon and so on), whether tsuyu (noodle sauce) is included, how many servings, and whether it arrives chilled or at ambient temperature. Udon is lined up on the same yardsticks as soba. If you can’t decide, start with the 3 products below and pick the closest one. The candidates are chosen from the 11 single-product articles published on Ochinity, and the information on each product page is lined up on the same yardsticks.

If You Can’t Decide, Start with These 3
To stock chilled fresh soba (nama soba) with tsuyu for 6 servings, for toshikoshi or any other occasion (chilled, fresh soba)
Okuaizu Naraya (奥会津 奈良屋) Teuchi-Style Fresh Soba
Chilled6 servingsWith tsuyu
A set of 810g of soba (6 servings) and 180ml of tsuyu. You can choose 1 to 5 sets of 6 servings.
Good to know: It arrives chilled, and the best-before is about 4 days from the manufacture date. The page advises eating it on the day it arrives or the next day. The shipping estimate on the page shows “土・日曜着指定必須/年越しを除く” (Saturday or Sunday arrival must be specified / excluding the toshikoshi period) (as of October 12, 2026). Please check the shop’s listing to see whether it will arrive before the end of the year. Noshi (gift wrapping label) is supported, and wrapping is basically not provided.
For dried noodles that keep at ambient temperature, to stock up in bulk (ambient, dried noodles)
Shinshu Togakushi Soba (信州戸隠そば) Hon-Juwari Soba (本十割そば; 100% buckwheat), Dried, 200g × 10 Bags
Ambient200g × 10 bagsBest-before 1 year
A set of 10 bags of Hon-Juwari Soba at 200g each, described as 20 servings in the shop’s wording. The only ingredient is described as buckwheat flour (made in Japan).
Good to know: No tsuyu is listed as included. The page names Yamato Transport (クロネコヤマト) as the carrier, but the year-end shipping deadline and the specification of delivery date and time were not found on the product page (information not confirmed). Noshi and wrapping are supported (wrapping is optional). If you have allergies, ask the seller before buying, or be sure to check the label on the item when it arrives.
To have udon with tsuyu ready for after the New Year too (ambient, semi-fresh udon)
こんぴらや “Kinsen” (琴線) Sanuki Udon, 6 Servings
Ambient6 servingsWith tsuyu
A set of udon (120g × 6 bags) and tsuyu (20ml × 6 bags), packed as 6 individually wrapped portions. The noodles are semi-fresh (半生, hannama).
Good to know: It is sent by ambient-temperature delivery, and the best-before period is shown as about 90 days. The boiling time was not found on the product page (information not confirmed). It comes in a gift box and supports noshi, but the box carries a caution (see the single-product article for details). It is labeled as containing wheat and soybeans. If you have allergies, ask the seller before buying, or be sure to check the label on the item when it arrives.
If you are timing it for year-endThe arrival date differs by shop, and so does the year-end handling of each product. そばぶるまい says its shipping days are normally Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and that the toshikoshi period is excluded. Naraya’s shipping estimate also shows “年越しを除く” (excluding the toshikoshi period). For Togakushi’s Hon-Juwari Soba, the year-end shipping deadline is not confirmed. Before ordering, check each shop’s listing.

How to Choose Without Regrets
1. Choose by noodle type
- Fresh soba: Naraya, そばぶるまい and Watanabe Seimen arrive chilled, while 出雲だんだんそば arrives by ambient-temperature delivery.
- Dried soba: Togakushi’s Hon-Juwari Soba and Togakushi’s trial set. Both are ambient, and the best-before is described as 1 year.
- Semi-fresh and fresh udon: 亀城庵 and こんぴらや are semi-fresh, and Sanuki Fresh Udon is fresh.
- Dried udon: 虎屋 Goto Udon and Mugendo Inaniwa Udon.
Fresh noodles have a short time between arrival and eating, while dried noodles keep well. It is easier to choose by thinking about whether the day you will eat is fixed, or whether you want to keep them on hand to use any time.Source: the “Basic Information” and “Storage” rows of each single-product article
2. Check whether tsuyu and condiments are included
- Tsuyu included: Naraya (180ml), そばぶるまい (200ml), 出雲だんだんそば (6 bags of flying fish tsuyu), こんぴらや (6 bags), Mugendo (8 bags of Hinai Jidori tsuyu).
- Condiment included: そばぶるまい comes with 25g of grated real wasabi (tube).
- No tsuyu: 虎屋 Goto Udon comes without tsuyu. For Togakushi’s Hon-Juwari Soba, no tsuyu is listed as included. Sanuki Fresh Udon is noodles only, 9 servings.
Even for sets with tsuyu, the amount per serving and the flavor are as the shop describes. The 亀城庵 page also has a separate option that comes with tsuyu. Before buying, check which option you are choosing.Source: the “Amount” row of each single-product article
3. Check how many servings
- 4 servings: そばぶるまい (4 servings), Togakushi’s trial set (about 4 servings).
- 6 servings: Naraya (choose 1 to 5 sets), Watanabe Seimen, 出雲だんだんそば, こんぴらや.
- 8 servings: 虎屋 Goto Udon, Mugendo.
- 9 to 20 servings: Sanuki Fresh Udon (9 servings), 亀城庵 (10 bags), Togakushi’s Hon-Juwari Soba (20 servings in the shop’s wording).
All servings are the shop’s wording, and the amount per serving differs by shop. The total amount of soba is 480g for そばぶるまい, 600g for 出雲だんだんそば, 810g for Naraya and 1,000g for Watanabe Seimen. Even at the same 6 servings the amounts differ, so it helps to check the total amount too.Source: the “Amount” row of each single-product article
4. Check how it arrives, how long it keeps, and year-end handling
- Arrives chilled: Naraya is 4 days from the manufacture date (the page advises eating it on the day it arrives or the next day), そばぶるまい is 7 days from the shipping date, and Watanabe Seimen is about 5 days after arrival.
- Arrives at ambient temperature: the other 8 products. 出雲だんだんそば is 3 months, こんぴらや about 90 days, 亀城庵 about 60 days, Togakushi’s Hon-Juwari Soba and the Togakushi’s trial set 1 year, and 虎屋 Goto Udon is described as 365 days from manufacture.
- Areas it cannot be delivered to: 出雲だんだんそば cannot be delivered to Hokkaido or Okinawa.
- Handling of noshi: Sanuki Fresh Udon and Watanabe Seimen are shown as not available. Togakushi’s trial set is for delivery to your own home only, and gift delivery is not possible.

The year-end shipping deadline and arrival dates are not written here; please check each shop’s listing.Source: the “Shipping”, “Storage” and “Best-before Date” rows of each single-product article
