This article covers a small-size wakeari (imperfect/irregular, sold at a discount) amaebi (sweet shrimp) without roe, 500g, sold on Rakuten Ichiba by the shop 越前かに問屋ますよね (Echizen Kani Donya Masuyone). The same shop also sells amaebi with roe, but that is a different product. The product page gives no reason for the wakeari label, so it is not confirmed. We organized five points—quantity, shelf life, ingredient labeling, suitability as a gift, and reviews—from the product page and publicly available reviews.

Condition / how to eat (cooking needed?)Raw / frozen. The shop explains that the shrimp are flash-frozen on board the fishing boat, and that a glaze of ice is intentionally applied to the surface to prevent freezer-drying. We could not find guidance on whether they can be eaten raw or need cooking. The product name includes the words “お刺身” (sashimi) and “海鮮丼” (seafood rice bowl), but we could not find these as the shop’s guidance on how to eat themSource: product name and image text on the Rakuten Ichiba product page
How to thawIf you cannot eat them all at once, the shop says to quickly thaw only part of the pack under running water to melt the glaze of ice on the surface; the shrimp then come apart one by one, so you can take out what you need and keep the rest frozen. It also says to refrain from refreezing after fully thawing, because the flavor deteriorates. A note acknowledges the inconvenience that the shrimp are hard to thaw individuallySource: image on the Rakuten Ichiba product page
ShippingStated as eligible for “Asuraku,” Rakuten’s next-day shipping service (orders placed by 11:00). Hokkaido, Kyushu, Okinawa Prefecture, and some remote islands are excluded from Asuraku, with delivery from the 2nd day onward. The shop says time-slot delivery, noshi (gift wrapping label) settings, and bank transfer cannot be used with Asuraku. Award claim stated by the shop: the product name says “グルメ大賞受賞” (Gourmet Award winner), and an image on the product page says it won in the shrimp category in 2012. According to the image’s explanation, this is the Rakuten Gourmet Award, which decides the best product in each category of Rakuten Ichiba gourmet goods based on factors such as number of reviews and sales, with a data period from January 1 to December 31, 2012. All of this is the shop’s own claim, and because it is a 2012 result it is not the latest.Source: Rakuten Ichiba product page (product name and image text, viewed October 3, 2026)

Ingredients and Allergen Labeling

We could not find the ingredient names, additives, or allergen labeling on the Rakuten Ichiba product page (product description and images). This item is Not confirmed on the Rakuten side. The shop states “無添加・無着色” (no additives, no coloring) in the product name, and an image on the product page states that no antioxidants or additives are used (both are claims by the seller).

On the other hand, the Amazon product information for the same shop’s amaebi without roe, 500g, lists ホッコクアカエビ (northern shrimp) as the ingredient and shrimp as an allergen. Because Rakuten Ichiba has no listing while Amazon lists shrimp, this article treats the product as containing shrimp. If you have a shrimp allergy, please contact the seller before purchasing or check the food label on the delivered product.
