Freeze-dried soup assortments are hard to compare at a glance, because the amount per serving, the vegetables and other solid ingredients, and the allergen labeling differ from soup to soup. This article looks at a tasting set containing one serving each of six soups, sold on Rakuten Ichiba by the store フリーズドライ乾燥野菜素材屋さん (アスザックフーズ株式会社オンラインストア楽天店). We organized what we could confirm on the product page, the single-item product page of each soup, and the review page into five points: amount, shelf life, ingredient labeling, suitability as a gift, and reviews. It is stored at ambient (room) temperature, and the suggested way to eat it is to put it in a cup and pour hot water over it.

At the top, a white soup cup on a wooden board holds a red soup with zucchini, red bell pepper and other ingredients, next to one round loaf of bread and a wooden spoon (the bread is not included with the product). Ingredients and Allergen Labeling

The set’s product page asks buyers to check the ingredient list, nutrition labeling and allergens on each item’s product page. We therefore checked the ingredient list and allergens (specified allergens and items equivalent to them) on the Rakuten Ichiba single-item product page of each of the six soups (viewed October 13, 2026).

  • Caramelized Onion Soup: onion paste, soy sauce, yeast extract, salt, starch, vegetable extract, sugar, pork extract seasoning, butter, chicken bouillon, cheese powder, beef oil, spices, beef bouillon seasoning, lard, solid ingredients (sautéed onion (onion (domestic)), dried parsley) / caramel color, antioxidant (V.E), spice extract, (contains wheat, milk, beef, soybeans, chicken, pork and apple in part)

  • Minestrone: tomato paste (manufactured in Portugal), salt, cheese powder, sugar, butter, pork extract seasoning, vegetable stock, chicken extract seasoning, yeast extract, chicken extract, olive oil, grated garlic, vegetable extract, spices, solid ingredients (sautéed onion, red bell pepper, dried cabbage, oatmeal, dried zucchini, dried carrot, dried basil) / antioxidant (V.E), spice extract, (contains wheat, milk, soybeans, chicken, pork and apple in part)
  • Ginger and Root Vegetable Soup: soy sauce, dextrin, starch, seafood extract, bonito dashi, ginger paste, salt, yeast extract, sugar, pork extract, kelp extract, solid ingredients (burdock root (domestic), boiled lotus root, mizuna, ginger, dried carrot) / antioxidant (V.E), (contains wheat, soybeans and pork in part)
  • Four-Kind Neba-Neba Soup: dextrin, fermented seasoning, starch, kelp dashi, salt, yeast extract, sugar, ume vinegar, shiitake extract, bonito dashi, spices, solid ingredients (nagaimo yam (domestic), okra, mozuku seaweed, molokhia, processed umeboshi, dried wakame) / acidulant, antioxidant (V.E), red yeast rice (beni-koji) color, (contains soybeans and yam (yamaimo) in part). There is a note that the mozuku seaweed in the ingredients is harvested in sea areas where shrimp and crab live
  • Shinshu Mushroom Soup: fermented seasoning, kelp dashi, starch, soy sauce, seafood extract, bonito dashi, mirin, sugar, salt, dried enoki mushroom, yeast extract, yuzu juice, fish powder, yuzu kosho, spices, solid ingredients (bunashimeji mushroom (Nagano Prefecture), enoki mushroom, dried green onion) / antioxidant (V.E), gardenia color, (contains wheat and soybeans in part)

Combining the allergens of the six soups gives nine items: wheat, egg, milk, beef, soybeans, chicken, pork, apple and yam (yamaimo) (our own compilation of the six labels). All six soups contain meat or seafood extracts or dashi (pork extract, chicken extract, seafood extract, bonito dashi, etc.) in their ingredients. The labeling differs from soup to soup within the set, and we have not been able to confirm that the soups in the set carry the same labeling as the single-item products. If you have an allergy, ask the shop before buying, and be sure to also check the food information label on the product when it arrives.

Five Things to Check Before Buying

What to checkFor this productBasis
1. Amount and number of servings 6 kinds × 1 serving each, 6 servings in total. 4.4–8.5 g per serving. The set’s product page does not say how many people it serves, so this is not confirmed Product details on the Rakuten Ichiba product page
2. Storage method and shelf life Store at ambient temperature away from direct sunlight, high temperatures and humidity. The best-before date is stated as at least 6 months remaining Product details on the Rakuten Ichiba product page
3. Ingredients and allergen labeling Not listed on the set’s page; checked on the single-item product pages. The allergens of the six soups combined are wheat, egg, milk, beef, soybeans, chicken, pork, apple and yam (yamaimo) The Rakuten Ichiba single-item product page of each soup
4. Suitable as a gift? No indication found that noshi, wrapping or a message card is offered. It comes in a dedicated box, and the page says it arrives by mail delivery service or home parcel delivery depending on the quantity ordered The Rakuten Ichiba product page and its explanatory images
5. Review trends The Rakuten Ichiba rating is 4.46/5 (3,219 reviews). This is a cumulative total built up on this product page since 2011, and includes posts from periods when the contents were different from now. We read the first 60 reviews in Rakuten’s default order (posted December 2024 to October 2026; latest October 2026), plus all 26 reviews at 1★ (posted February 2011 to March 2024) and 30 of the 52 reviews at 2★ (posted June 2013 to April 2026), 116 in total. The following are trends within what we read and may not reflect the product’s current condition. Many posts mentioned being able to compare a variety of flavors and the convenience of just pouring in hot water, while points of concern included the flavor being weak and there being few solid ingredients (most of the 1★ and 2★ posts are from 2013–2019) Rakuten customer reviews (“Minna no Review”) (viewed October 13, 2026)

Suitable as a Gift?

On the Rakuten Ichiba product page, we found no indication that noshi, wrapping or a message card is offered. We also could not confirm the types of noshi inscription, gift wrapping, or whether name printing is available. The product description lists words describing gift-giving occasions, but these are not statements that noshi or wrapping is offered (source: Rakuten Ichiba product page, viewed October 13, 2026).

The soups arrive in a dedicated box (22.3 cm × 20.8 cm × 2.7 cm). Whether the box counts as a gift box is not confirmed. The page says it arrives by mail delivery service or home parcel delivery depending on the quantity ordered, and that if the package does not fit in the mailbox, it may be left in a delivery box, or a missed-delivery notice may be left and the package taken back (source: explanatory images on the Rakuten Ichiba product page, viewed October 13, 2026). If you are considering it as a gift, checking the following points in the seller’s listing before buying will help avoid misunderstandings.

  • Whether noshi, wrapping or a message card is offered (not shown on the product page)
  • Whether you can specify the delivery date and time when it arrives by mail delivery service (not confirmed)

Among the reviews we read, about 9 of the first 60 in the default order said they had used it as a return gift or a small present, or had sent it to family (source: Rakuten customer reviews, viewed October 13, 2026). We read 60 reviews, and this trend may not reflect the product’s current condition.
